FAQ

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we get from people enquiring about our club and our beginner courses. If these still don’t answer your questions you can ask us by clicking here.

Q: Can I just turn up and shoot at the Dublin Archers training venues?

A: You must first have completed a beginners course with an Archery Ireland or GNAS accredited coach. You must then fill out the relevant Archery Ireland membership form and attach 2 passport photos.  You must also fill in the Dublin Archers Application form.  The fee for joining is the 40 euro Dublin Archers club member fee plus the additional fee to Archery Ireland outlined on the membership form.

Q: Do I need my own equipment before I do a beginners course?

A: No we supply everything you need.

Q: Can I get my own equipment and bring it anyway?

A: We don’t recommend buying equipment before the start of the course. Our coaches will advise you on the equipment most suitable for you once you have completed the beginners course. Buying equipment which is not matched to your level can be a costly mistake.

Q: I want to buy some archery lessons for a present, can you accommodate this?

A: Yes, we can arrange a voucher as a present. Just use the Contact Form and submit your request so we can try to organise what you’re looking for.

Q: I am a member of a different club but want to train with your club. Is this okay?

A: If you are a member of Archery Ireland this is fine. All we ask is that you let us know before hand that you are coming in case training is delayed or cancelled.

Q: I have completed a beginner course, what do I do now?

A: The next step is to join a club. While Dublin archers would have available a small amount of  beginner equipment, which may be used at the start, we would recommend that you look at purchasing your own equipment if you are thinking of continuing on in archery. One of our coaches can discuss this with you so you can get the type most suited to you.

Q: I’m not a member of Archery Ireland, can I still train with you?

A: Unfortunately not as we can only allow full members of Archery Ireland to shoot with us, otherwise you would not be covered by insurance.

Q: I live outside Dublin. Do you have a list of clubs elsewhere in the country?

A: Yes you can find them on the Archery Ireland website.

Q: I was given a bow for my birthday. Can I come to your club and learn to use it?

A: We suggest you sign up for a beginners course. This is the best way for you to learn archery.

Q: I am 50 this year and wanted to try something new. Am I too old to take up archery?

A: Not at all. Our members cover a wide range of ages.

Q: I want to try Field Archery. Do you cater for that?

A: While we do not have field facilities at our club, we can still give you advice on the basics, and point you in the right direction for the field club you are looking for.
